The band unfortunately are unable to enter the NIBA championships this year due to gaps in the band and people not available due to sickness. Indeed, we do have a number of positions in the band that need filled including solo cornet, baritone, 1st trombone, euphonium, Eb bass and percussion. So if anyone out there interested in coming down for a blow to see how they like the band then please do so.

The band has a new musical director! After holding auditions, the band selected the principal cornet of the band Dessie Neill as the new conductor. We wish him the very best in his new role. And stepping into his shoes, the principal cornet seat is now occupied by Nathan Thompson. So congratulations to Nathan too. We are still looking for players in the band especially now on solo cornet so if interested please "come on down" (see front page for details).

The band had a great weekend in Blackpool. We played well and achieved a very credible 13th place result in the Senior Cup, especially good since we were drawn number 1. Full results available at 4BarsRest.

The BBL contest was held last weekend and the band put on a very credible performance of "English Heritage" which earned them a 2nd place position. However that was bolstered with Dessie Neil taking the Best Instrumentalist prize and Amanda, Jordan and David lifting the Best Trombone section. Congratulations to them and to the band, currently under the temporary muscial directorship of Ernie Ruddock once again. This sets the band up well for playing the piece again the British Open Spring Festival in Blackpool in under 2 weeks. And of course congratulations to the 1st Old Boys on their fine win. Full results of the Senior section and all other sections and winners available at the Brass Band League site (see our Link section).
