In midde of May, the Band competed in the Spring Festival contest in Blackpool in the Senior Trophy. The Band gave a good performance and were rewarded with an excellent 8th place! So congratulations to all in the Band. Downshire Brass Band were also competing and came 13th so both Bands invited back to next year's contest (though we might be at the Europeans). The Band also recorded a programme for BBC Radio which will be on air from June 2017 onwards (for Strike Up The Band).
1st May 2017
Back at start of April the band performed in the BBM contest, playing Salute To Youth. The band gave a great performance which earned them a 2nd place. And Nathan Thompson took the soloist prize. Winners were 1st Old Boys so congratulations to them. Full results at the BBL site (see links section).
12th March 2017
The band competed in the Brass in Concert contest last weekend in Fivemiletown. The band were very happy with their performance and the two soloists played very well, especially John Murdoch who gave an outstanding performance of In Christ Alone. Unfortunately the results did not go our way and we ended up in 4th place, but that is brass banding for you! Congratulations to the winners 1st Old Boys, and all other winners on the day. The BBL solos were held recently and we had a double win for the band, with our principal cornet player Nathan Thompson winning the A section, and our young 2nd horn player Daniel Sharpe winning the B section. So congratulations to them both. And of course congratulations to all the other winners. Full results can be found here. The band now looking forward to the upcoming Brass in Concert entertainments contest in Fivemiletown on 4th March.

First entry of the new year so Happy New Year all! Site updated for latest news. Most recent news before Christmas year was winning the Brass in Concert Entertainments Senior section contest which completed a great year for the band. Hopefully this year is as successful. In other news we welcome two new members to the band; Fraser Ramsey on Solo Horn and Daniel Sharpe on 2nd Horn.
